Fudgy Homemade Brownies

June 1, 2011 by becky 4 Comments

Fudgy Homemade Brownies

Honestly, I usually make brownies from a box.  A few times I’ve made brownies from scratch and sadly the boxed brownies were better.  Well, when I saw this recipe on my friend’s food blog she promised they were amazing.  With a fudgy gooey middle and a crispy flaky crust on top.  I was excited to try it!

Last weekend we invited our friends over for dinner and we had these brownies for dessert.  I thought it was pretty funny because usually when I make something new I like to wait and hear what others think of it before I say anything.  Well this time I took a bite and WOW! I couldn’t believe how good it was!  They all loved it too. Derek says it’s the best brownie he’s ever had.

I hope you give these a try.  They are the best!

Fudgy Brownies
Recipe from One Lovely Life

Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
5 Tbsp butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
¾ cup sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
3 Tbsp baking cocoa
1/3 cup flour
Directions:
In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips and butter together. Stir in vanilla and set aside to cool. In a medium bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until light yellow and in the ribbon stage (you know you’ve reached this when you can lift up your whisk and the egg mixture drip down in a steady ribbon rather than in gloopy clumps). Stir in salt and cocoa and mix well to combine.
Stir chocolate mixture into egg mixture and combine well. Sift over flour and fold in until just mixed. Do not over mix, or you will have tough, dry brownies.
Pour into a sprayed 8 x 8″ baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
*The brownies may not pass the toothpick test (where it comes out clean), but they will continue to set as they cool. Allow to cool before serving.

I’ve finally weaned my family from the boxed brownie…they preferred those to mine for years! Your recipe looks extra delicious with the double dose of chocolate~

I knew I’d be able to find a good brownie recipe on your blog. 🙂 Mason wants brownies for his birthday but we are trying to stay away from the box mix and he doesn’t like my homemade ones. Hopefully this does the trick!!
