Maple and Brown Sugar Overnight Oats

Maple and Brown Sugar Overnight Oats- A simple healthy and delicious recipe that takes only minutes to prepare. The perfect make-ahead breakfast!

Maple & Brown Sugar Overnight Oats

Overnight oats have quickly become my new obsession! They take just minutes to prep, are ready the second I wake up, and are healthy, filling, and incredibly tasty.

Many evenings after dinner, I make a double batch, so breakfast is ready to grab-and-go in the morning.

I actually tried overnight oats a few months ago and wasn’t impressed, but getting the recipe just right completely changed my mind. This version is simple, fuss-free, and has quickly become my favorite way to start the day.

Maple Syrup

Chances are, you already have most of the ingredients for this overnight oats recipe. One thing I do want to highlight is pure maple syrup—it’s not your typical artificial pancake syrup from childhood. Pure maple syrup has a natural, rich sweetness and none of the junky additives or high-fructose corn syrup. It’s the real deal and perfect for this recipe. I usually grab mine at Sprouts or WinCo.

Since overnight oats have become my go-to breakfast, I’ve started buying oats in bulk. I wait for a sale at Sprouts or WinCo, stock up, and suddenly mornings are so much easier. It’s convenient, budget-friendly, and makes prepping breakfast a breeze.

Here are a few reasons oats are so good for you:

-Full of nutrients and fiber

-It’s filling

-May help lower blood sugar and cholesterol

-Rich in antioxidants

-And so much more!

Maple Brown Sugar Overnight Oats

The ingredients in these overnight oats are simple. Old Fashioned Oats, Milk, Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar and Maple Syrup. Put them all together and wait a few hours and just like that you have the most amazing oatmeal of your life. (At least in my opinion.) This is far better than any oatmeal I have ever had and a lot healthier than most store bought oatmeal.  You can even add chopped fruit or yogurt. My favorite fruit mix-in so far has been strawberries.

A few notes about this recipe- You can adjust the cinnamon, brown sugar, and maple syrup amounts as you please. Over the last couple of weeks, I have tried about every possible amount of the ingredients, and what I have listed below is my favorite amount. I love using dark brown sugar because of the flavor, but you can use light brown sugar if you prefer.

To make it gluten-free just make sure your oats are gluten-free certified. For dairy-free oatmeal, you can use different milk than dairy like almond or soy. I noticed most overnight oat recipes call for almond but I personally prefer regular cow’s milk.

Add more protein- some ideas are Greek yogurt, protein powder, nuts, nut butter etc.

Maple Brown Sugar Overnight Oats

I really hope you try this recipe! Let me know what you think. I have been telling all my family and friends about this oatmeal recipe because it seriously is life-changing! My mornings are so busy with four kids, so it’s so nice to have breakfast 100% ready for me to grab in the morning. And if I have any leftover, I love having the rest for an afternoon snack.

Enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to adjust the cinnamon, brown sugar, and maple syrup amounts to your liking.
Add a little more milk if you prefer. (I usually add about 2 more tablespoons of milk.)
For more protein, add Greek yogurt or 1/2 a scoop of vanilla protein powder. For more fiber, you can add ground flaxseed or chia seeds.
I love to eat it cold, but if you prefer, you can warm it up.
Some of my kids prefer this with quick oats instead of old-fashioned.

  1. This recipe is seriously so good! I haven’t been able to have dairy or eggs with my baby so breakfast options have been limited. I tried it with soymilk and not only do I love it but my baby’s tummy is good with it too. I’ve made this 5 or 6 times now and it’s been delicious every time!

    1. This makes me so happy! I’m so glad you found something you can eat and enjoy for breakfast! 🙂

Can I make this with the pack of maple & brown sugar oatmeal?

        1. I’m sure you could add milk to a packet of oatmeal but that would be different than using this recipe. My recipe for Overnight Oats has you add each individual ingredient to make a homemade version of Overnight Oats.

      2. I’ve been looking for easy breakfast options and really love the idea of overnight oats. I decided to try these, but since I’ve been cutting back on table sugar I decided to make it with Swerve brown sugar substitute and Lankos maple syrup substitute. Topped with some cinnamon and ginger baked apples, it was so good! Obviously it isn’t the same as the delicious sugar we all love, but it was still good all the same 🙂

        1. Oh yum! I’m so glad it was still delicious! Ginger-baked apples sound so good!

I made these oats and they are delicious! Wonderful easy recipe. I ate my jar of oats over 3 days.I would scoop out a little and eat it with lots of berries and chopped apple. Thanks!

    1. That is such a great idea! I’m so glad you loved it! 🙂

      1. How much yogurt do you add when you do that?

        1. I would say around 1/4 cup but it can vary according to your preference.

  3. Deeanna Franklin Campbell says:

I’ve made this several times – with chia seeds – and it’s delicious. I eat it a little at a time with lots of blueberries. Thanks!

  4. Hi! Is this one serving or 2?

  5. I really want to try your recipe! I need a more on the go option for work do you know if this would transfer okay to being a smoothie?

    1. I haven’t tried it but turning it into a smoothie should work fine! You may need to add more milk. And if you want you could add some Greek Yogurt.

  6. Does this recipe make one jar? Or two?

    1. It’s 2 servings but you can put it in 1 or 2 jars or containers. Whatever works best for you.

  9. Shaheerah english says:

Can I use the 1 minute oats? I have a lot of that on hand

    1. You can but the result won’t be the same. It will be softer and mushier. But it’s worth a try to see how you like it.

      1. Shaheerah Jean English says:

Ohh ok well I will just grab the right kind from the store. Thank you!

  10. I used 1/2 regular rolled oats 1/2 kodiak protein rolled oats for some extra protein and used extra creamy oat milk!! I also added a tbs of mini chocolate chips!! Yummy!

  11. Hello! First of all, I’m totally looking forward to making this and I’m committed to trying it either way, but I was wondering if you had the nutritional information available for this recipe per serving? Thank you in advance!

    1. I don’t have that information right now but try an online calculator to help. Enjoy the recipe!

  12. What is the difference in the result of using quick-oats instead of old fashioned?

    1. The main difference between using quick-oats and old-fashioned oats for overnight oats is the final texture. Quick-oats absorb liquid faster and break down, resulting in a much softer, smoother, and more porridge-like consistency, while old-fashioned oats stay more distinct, giving you a chewier and creamier texture.
