A Day in the Life of a One-Year-Old

May 9, 2016 by becky 19 Comments

A Day in the Life of a One-Year-Old: a busy and fun day for Carina plus her favorite snacks and meals.

A Day in the Life of a One-Year-Old

Carina is 14 months now and such a happy baby! (Most of the time.) Today I am excited to share with you a glimpse into her life. I had so much fun capturing moments from our day. She’s always on the move so it was a little tiring chasing her around a little more than usual trying to get cute pictures of her but it was worth it. I captured so many fun moments from our day.

baby girl huggies diapers

Tuesday morning Carina woke up and nursed then we got her brother off to school. Now it was time for a diaper change and change of clothes! We love using Huggies diapers because they keep her happy and dry! Is there anything worse than your baby waking up in the middle of the night only because their diaper leaked or feels too wet?! I think not. Huggies Little Snugglers keeps her skin clean and healthy and leaves me with no worries both night and day. I love the wetness indicator too so I know when it’s time to change her diaper. Carina thinks diapers are pretty fun to play with and scatter!

baby girl Huggies diapers

Once her pj’s were off and her diaper was changed, she threw her diaper away (her newest trick!) then took off. She thinks it’s SO funny to run away when she is mostly naked! haha It is really funny. And can you tell she LOVES puppies?

Sweet Potato Pancakes

Time for breakfast! She had one of her very favorite breakfast foods, Healthy Sweet Potato Pancakes. All my kids (and I!) can’t get enough of these pancakes. She ate blueberries and had a little milk. Carina loves almost all foods but does not like cows milk. Any tips? I’m hoping to stop nursing her soon since baby #4 will be here in a few months.

Here are some more great breakfast ideas for toddlers: Carrot Pancakes, French Toast, Weekend Brunch Casserole, Pumpkin Waffles, toast, fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast quesadilla, cereal, yogurt, bagel and cream cheese, muffins etc.

baby at the library

Next we were off to the library! I find earlier in the mornings work best for us to get out of the house and have fun. We go to the library almost every week.

Carina reminded me once again she is going to do her own thing. I tried taking a picture of her in the cute reading circle they have but she took off and thought she was pretty funny. I’m glad though because I LOVE this picture! She of course proceeded to try and take down the books as fast as she could but boring mommy stopped her.

BYU duck pond

Carina LOVES animals! So I took her and Asher to the duck pond on BYU campus. She thought it was so awesome and was so excited!

After this Carina fell asleep on the drive home. It turned out to be a short nap. She usually naps about 1 1/2-2 hours and at about 12:30 pm but both of those times vary by the day. I don’t keep her on a schedule.

Toddler Lunch Ideas

Lunch time! We usually all have leftovers for lunch but sometimes I make recipes just for my kids and I to have for lunch. This day she had black beans, vegetables, shredded cheddar cheese, whole wheat bread and apple juice. (I do half juice and water for now.)

Here are some more great lunch ideas for toddlers: Stove Top Mac n’ Cheese, Quick & Easy Pasta, Chicken Pesto Panini, quesadillas, vegetables and fruit (cut-up) etc.

Playtime for kids

Playtime! Carina had a playdate with her friend who is about the same age. I think every kid loves other kid’s toys more than their own so she really enjoyed that.

Back home the boys played with Carina while I made dinner. Isn’t her pose so hilarious? She cracks me up. She often does it after practicing taking a few steps walking. (She currently gets around on her knees and she’s fast too!)

Snacks for Toddlers

Carina took a short nap since her morning nap was too short. Then we were off to Levi’s soccer game! I brought along our favorite snack, Homemade Graham Crackers. My kids LOVE these!

Here are some more great snack ideas for toddlers: Healthy Monster Cookies, Mini Spinach Muffins, Smoothies, No-Bake Energy Bites, Apple-Cinnamon Granola Bars, Chewy Chocolate Chip Granola Bars, No-Bake Breakfast Cookies, fruits, vegetables, crackers, cheese, bread, yogurt etc.

Dinner Ideas for Toddlers

Dinner time! Carina ate one of my favorite dinners to make for my family because it’s so quick and easy and they eat it right up! I made my Low-Cal Alfredo Sauce with mini penne, grilled chicken and vegetables. She loved it as usual!

Here are some more great dinner ideas for toddlers: Meatballs, Mini Beef & Cheese Empanadas, Herb Crusted Chicken, Yogurt Chicken, pasta, chicken and rice, chicken and potatoes etc.

Baby bath time

Bath time! Carina loves taking baths and had so much fun splashing around.

Huggies Little Snugglers

Time for pj’s! Huggies Little Snugglers are our favorite for a full night of sleep for babies. It has a GentleAbsorb Liner so it’s perfect for all night comfort. I love that it absorbs moisture to keep Carina feeling dry.

Bedtime with toddlers

I attempted to read Carina a book before bed but she insisted on checking out the book on her own, then being silly. I love this girl! She showed off by taking a few more steps. Then kept being silly to make us laugh. Then it was off to bed!

What a day we had! Of course I missed her like crazy once she went to bed and couldn’t wait to see her the next day. Life with a toddler is very busy but so rewarding and fun. I love my Carina!

I love when bloggers do these but this toddler edition was the best! We’re a Huggies family, too, and I love that Munchkin sippy =)

Thanks! haha It’s hard sometimes but so far it’s been ok. I’m hoping she’ll stop in the next month though before I hit my 3rd trimester!
