Becky’s Bites of Life- July

August 4, 2015 by becky 4 Comments

hello August

It feels like summer is almost over and that makes me sad in a way but so excited for the fall because I absolutely love the fall! It’s been a fun summer and I think despite still figuring out life with 3 kids, my kids have had a fun summer. We’ve been busy visiting parks, splash pads, the aquarium, playing with friends and cousins and so much more! The week of the 4th of July we went on a family trip with my husband’s family to Island Park. We all had fun but my boys especially loved it. They love when we do anything new that’s exciting to them! Plus being with cousins is always their favorite. My oldest, Levi, starts 1st grade in a couple of weeks and I am hoping he adjusts well to a full day of school.

Becky’s Bites of Life:

Pioneer Day- UtahI live in Utah so the 24th of July is a big deal here! It’s Pioneer Day and it’s pretty comparable to how we celebrate the 4th of July. We got together with my family and I made a big pan of brownies. I melted chocolate chips on top and used sprinkles to make the shape of Utah. It was a huge hit!

boysWe’ve read so many books this summer! Levi is pretty good at reading so sometimes he likes to read to Asher and it’s so sweet! We’ve read a lot of books my friend Emily from One Lovely Life has suggested on her blog as well as others we find at the library. Here’s also a list of some of our favorite books.

TiramisuWe got together with some friends for an Italian night. It was pretty dang awesome. One family brought the main dish and drinks, another a big salad and we brought appetizers and dessert. Derek was in charge of the appetizers and did an amazing job making caprese using fresh tomatoes and basil from our garden, as well as another appetizer, salami and parmesan cheese roll-ups. I loved having an excuse to make Tiramisu again and I have to say it was my best one yet!

Carina- 5 MonthsMy sweet baby Carina is 5 months now! I seriously can’t believe it. As much as I miss the sweet, tiny newborn stage I am loving the stage she is in now. She is so happy and laughs a lot. She thinks her crazy brothers are hilarious and adores her daddy. It’s no secret I am her favorite though! Carina LOVES to roll over. Within seconds of placing her on her back she rolls over to her tummy.  She sleeps through the night but often keeps me up later than I’d like or wakes me up earlier than I’d like. (And often both.) But I can’t complain! I love her so much and can’t get enough of her!

I hope you all have a wonderful August! When does school start for your kids?

Stay tuned for more fun and delicious recipes!
