Easy Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for Easy Hot Fudge Sauce:

  • Granulated Sugar- I tested this recipe with both granulated sugar and brown sugar and just using granulated sugar was the winner!
  • Butter- Use unsalted butter, softened is preferred.
  • Good quality bittersweet, dark, or semisweet chocolate, chopped (can use good quality chocolate chips)- I use high-quality bittersweet chocolate chips in this recipe. Use your favorite type of chocolate.
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder- High quality is always best!
  • Corn Syrup- Adds the classic “chew” that hot fudge has.
  • Kosher Salt- I love the saltiness this gives the hot fudge, but you can use a different type of salt if you prefer. Just know that you may want to reduce the amount of salt if you don’t use kosher salt.
  • Heavy Cream- This can not be substituted. During recipe testing, I tried half and half, and the hot fudge did not thicken up.
  • Vanilla Extract- Use pure vanilla extract, not imitation

How to Make Easy Hot Fudge Sauce:

  1. Melt the granulated sugar, butter, and corn syrup together in a small saucepan set over low heat, stirring often.
  2. Add the chocolate and stir occasionally; let it melt, and incorporate it into the butter-sugar mixture. Stir in cocoa powder and salt until fully incorporated.
  3. Remove the sauce from the heat and slowly whisk in heavy cream until fully incorporated – the chocolate sauce will be smooth and shiny. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the saucepan. Add the vanilla extract. Use immediately or cover and refrigerate until needed.
