The Best Easy Chocolate Fondue Recipe — A rich, chocolatey treat that’s simple to make and perfect for sharing! This fun, interactive dessert pairs perfectly with all your favorite dippers.

Chocolate fondue is one of those desserts that feels extra fun but is secretly super easy. Warm, melty chocolate with all the things to dip? Yes, please. This is one of our favorite treats for family nights, holidays, or just because—it never disappoints!
Another fondue we can’t get enough of is Cheese Fondue. Don’t miss our family-friendly recipe—I shared it last year and it’s perfect for all ages.
We’re big fans of chocolate, and chocolate fondue is one of our all-time favorite ways to enjoy it! It’s the ultimate chocolate dessert—so rich, creamy, and perfect for dipping all sorts of delicious treats and fruit.

When it comes to fondue, the chocolate really matters—skip the cheap chocolate chips with added oils or waxy stabilizers (check the ingredients for palm oil or hydrogenated fats). Look for high-quality chocolate chips or bars that list cocoa butter as a main ingredient. I like using Ghirardelli, Guittard, Lindt, or Trader Joe’s Pound Plus bars—they melt beautifully and taste amazing. Whether you go for milk, semi-sweet, dark, or a mix, good chocolate makes all the difference!

The Best Easy Chocolate Fondue Recipe
Ingredients
- 16 ounces high-quality chocolate (semisweet or bittersweet chocolate (or a mix) (high-quality chips or roughly chopped bar))
- 1/2-2/3 heavy cream
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: In a saucepan or stovetop-safe fondue pot, combine the chocolate, heavy cream, and milk. Warm over low heat, stirring often, until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy. Don’t let it boil!
- Add Vanilla & Adjust Consistency: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. If the fondue is too thick, whisk in a little extra milk or cream—just a splash at a time—until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Keep Warm for Serving: If you used a saucepan, transfer the fondue to a fondue pot or small slow cooker to keep it warm while serving.
- Serve with Dippers: Enjoy with your favorite dippables—fresh strawberries, banana slices, mini Rice Krispie treats, marshmallows, or cookies are all delicious options.
- Storing & Reheating Leftovers:
Store any leftovers in the fridge. To reheat, warm gently over low heat, stirring often, until smooth.
