Say hello to the BEST dessert! This Le Crookie– Viral Cookie Croissant Recipe from Paris is life-changing! I am blessed to say that I have tried the famous Crookie or Cookie Croissant when I went to Paris this past April! Before I left, I had quite a few friends send me the viral reel of the Crookie. And as my husband and I boarded our plane for Paris, our friend messaged us that we had to stop by Maison Louvard for the famous crookie!

I looked up the location of Maison-Louvard, the home, and creation of the famous Cookie Croissant, and was thrilled to see it was super close to our hotel! After the long flight to Paris and getting to our hotel, we dropped our luggage off and walked straight over to Maison-Louvard.

There it was! An entire section of the tiny bakery is devoted to the famous Crookie. Quite ordinary looking but boy was I excited to dig in, not only to this famous Crookie but my first pastry in Paris on this vacation!

I was apprehensive it would be too sweet but surprisingly it wasn’t. The cookie part wasn’t overly sweet. The combination of a deliciously chewy cookie with the flakiness and buttery-ness of the perfect Paris croissant was SO GOOD! I took in the moment with every bit and knew I HAD to come home and recreate this recipe! And of course, we stopped by the bakery one more time on our way home at the end of the vacation.

Tips and Tricks to Make Le Crookie- Viral Cookie Croissant Recipe from Paris:
For a more authentic cookie croissant here is my best advice:
-Use a homemade cookie dough. In my recipe, I have included my tried and true chocolate chip cookie dough recipe.
-Don’t use chocolate chips. If you need, you can use chocolate chunks but I highly suggest getting a good quality chocolate bar and chopping it into pieces. I used the dark chocolate pound plus from Trader Joe’s.
-How many this recipe yields will depend on the size of the croissants you use.
-If you want to make fewer Crookies you can just use the rest of the cookie dough to make regular chocolate chip cookies.
– Eat it while it’s still warm. It’s delicious!

How to Pick the Best Croissants:
1 word: Costco! haha
I wish I would have thought of that from the beginning. First, I attempted making this with the ones you bake from Trader Joe’s and that didn’t work out because it was too soft and flakey. Second, I spent too much money buying croissants from a fancy local bakery. But then my friend who spent a few years in Paris mentioned Costco. I didn’t think of that because I had in my mind only making chicken salad sandwiches with those. But he said they were such a good texture and a great cost.
So the last time I made these was with the Costco croissants and it was the best out of all the times I have made the Crookie! Thank you Costco!

Try this and let me know what you think!
Enjoy!

Le Crookie- Viral Cookie Croissant Recipe from Paris
Ingredients
- 6-8 Butter Croissants
- 3/4 cup butter (1 ½ sticks, softened)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ½ tsp. salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chunks (preferably chopped from a high-quality chocolate bar)
Instructions
To Prepare Cookie Dough:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium speed, beating until light and fluffy about 3 minutes. Add in egg and vanilla and mix until incorporated on low speed. Turn the mixer up to medium-high and mix for 1 minute.
- Scrape down the sides of the bowl if needed. Add the cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix for 30 seconds then add the flour 1 cup at a time. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Add the chocolate pieces and either beat for a few seconds on low speed or fold in by hand.
To Make the Crookie:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut through the middle of the croissant horizontally with a sharp serrated knife, leaving the back uncut, and place on the baking sheet. Repeat with each croissant.
- Using about 1/2 a cup of cookie dough per croissant, take some of the dough, and press a thin layer evenly across the inside of the cut croissant, and press it closed.
- Add the rest of the dough from the 1/2 cup of dough to the top of each end of the croissant. It helps to flatten the dough with your hands and then press on the croissant. Repeat with the croissants until all the cookie dough is used.
- Place the croissants on the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cookie dough is slightly golden.
- Let cool slightly, and enjoy!
