A flavorful and simple chicken marinade that is a family favorite recipe. This Grilled Chicken is always a huge hit at barbecues!
I’m so excited to be sharing this recipe with you all! I love grilled food! (Who doesn’t?! Like this delicious Marinated Grilled Pork Chop Recipe.) This is one of my favorite recipes my father-in-law makes. I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying this recipe every summer since I met my husband but he has been making it since he was in college in Ephraim, UT (Snow College). This marinade recipe some of you might know as San Pete County Marinade. It was created by Norbest as a marinade for turkey but I’ve always had it with chicken.
This recipe is pretty unique. Who would have thought to use 7-Up, Soy Sauce, Vegetable Oil, Horseradish and Garlic Powder for a marinade? I usually don’t like horseradish but I’d say it’s the secret ingredient in this recipe that takes it to the next level of deliciousness! The chicken needs to marinate for at least 8 hours but honestly my father-in-law often marinates it overnight and waits until the family is there for dinner the next day to grill it and it’s not only just fine it’s excellent! So marinating it for overnight + part of the day until you are ready to grill is ok to do.
This chicken turns out incredibly moist, tender and flavorful. This is the ultimate marinade for grilling chicken! It’s always a huge hit at our family barbecues and a bonus is that our kids love it too!
Enjoy!

This looks pretty good. My husband would want it made with Dr. Pepper. Wonder how that would turn out.
This looks AMAZING! I miss my dad’s grilled chicken that we cook outside on the BBQ grille in the summer. So good!
Always looking for a good marinade. This would probably be good on pork too.
