How to Make Frankenstein Salted Caramel Rice Krispie Treats:
-
Prepare the pan: Lightly coat an 8×8-inch pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
-
Mix the cereal: In a large, heatproof bowl, combine the Rice Krispies and 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows.
-
Make the caramel: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Reduce to medium and stir in the brown sugar, whipping cream, and corn syrup. Cook for about 7 minutes, stirring often, until thick and syrupy.
-
Add color and flavor: Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and a few drops of green food coloring until evenly tinted.
-
Melt the marshmallows: Add the remaining marshmallows to the hot caramel mixture and stir until melted and smooth.
-
Combine: Pour the mixture over the Rice Krispies and stir until evenly coated.
-
Press: Press firmly into the prepared pan.
-
Cool and cut: Let cool completely before cutting into rectangles.
- Decorate: Melt the chocolate, then pipe or spread it on top for Frankenstein’s hair. Add chocolate sprinkles for texture. Use a little melted chocolate as “glue” to attach the candy eyes and the side bolts (mini marshmallows rolled in cocoa powder). Finish by decorating the face—have fun and make each one unique!
