Essential Items for Each New Baby

Essential Items for Each New Baby- Items you need to buy each time you have a new baby!

This post has been sponsored by The Baby Cubby. All opinions are my own.

Essential Items for Each New Baby

In only 2 months my 4th baby will be born! I am so excited and the nesting phase is starting to kick in. I’ve been making a list of items I need to buy for him as I did with all my babies and I thought it’d be helpful to share on my blog what items you need to buy for each new baby. Once you get to baby #4 and it’s the 3rd boy, baby showers are a thing of the past and getting what you need is completely up to you. So what do you really need for each new baby? This is my list of essentials and let me know what else you would suggest.

diapers

Diapers/Wipes/Cream

This is the most obvious need and essential for a new baby! I usually buy a big pack of size 1 diapers before baby is born and a smaller pack of newborn diapers since you never know for sure how big your baby will be when he/she is born. I also like to buy a big box of wipes. Diaper cream is a must too! I like to keep one at home and one in the diaper bag at all times.

Swaddle blanket

Swaddle Blanket/Special Blanket

Swaddle blankets are a must in my opinions! I bought a new set with each of my kids. My 4 year old still sleeps with his! I also think it’s important for each child to have a special blanket. My 7 year old has had a soft blanket with airplanes on it since I was given it at a baby shower and he likes to sleep with that still! Blankets are not only comforting but functional too!

clothes

New Clothes (Cute outfits!)

Depending on the gender of your new baby and time of the year you may or may not need to buy some new clothes. My first two are boys so I thought I wouldn’t have to buy anything new but boy was I wrong! My 1st was born in the summer and my 2nd in the winter so I needed quite a new warmer clothes for the 2nd baby. Also, my 1st was always a skinny little guy but for a time my 2nd was a chunky little guy so that also made it so I had to buy some new clothes. But even if there isn’t a need for new clothes it’s always nice to buy a nice new outfit (or a few!) for the new baby so it’s not hand me downs all the time. As the youngest of 8 I know how nice it is as a kid to get new clothes sometimes.

baby toys

Toys

Each of my kids early on have become attached to specific toys and my older kids still sleep with a couple of their favorite stuffed animals. I love getting a couple new toys for each new baby I have as it’s something special to have that is theirs and they don’t have to share. Here are some great toys from stuffed animals to wooden toys to bath toys.

pacifiers

Pacifiers

A new pacifier is smart to get for your new baby! I will admit that only my 1st baby used a pacifier but I know most babies use them.

baby shoes

Socks/Shoes

Some socks and shoes might last from one kid to the next but most likely you will need to buy new socks and shoes. (How cute are those purple shoes?!)

Tubby Todd

Bath Essentials

You’ll certainly need more bath soap, lotion etc. for your new addition! I personally LOVE Tubby Todd products. Their products are 100% natural. I recently bought the All Over Ointment to help with my son’s eczema and it cleared it up in only 1 day! They sell these at The Baby Cubby and I love it! (Not to mention my friend Andrea owns this company and she’s amazing!)

You might also need new hooded towels, wash cloths etc. There are so many cute ones to see here.

bottles

Feeding Essentials:

Whether you breastfeed or bottle feed you’re going to need some new supplies. From bottles, to bibs and burp cloths you can find what you need here.

Other Needs:

One thing you might not think to buy is hand sanitizer. With so many friends and family wanting to hold your new baby you’ll want to keep germs away! A few more items that you may need are unique items if your baby is a different gender than you’ve had before. Like bows and ties etc. I also personally like getting a car set cover as well.

What Makes The Baby Cubby Different:

The Baby Cubby is a one stop shop for all things baby. It’s not just another baby store but so much more than that. I love that they have so many amazing resources to help parents. When I had my first I really had no clue about what items I needed for my baby and what were all the options for me. Now on my 4th baby I still have questions about certain products and knowing what is best for my baby and me. The Baby Cubby helps parents to not feel so overwhelmed and discouraged. The Baby Cubby team is made up of parents who help other parents find the best and safest baby gear and provide a fun shopping experience where they do things like test strollers on their stroller track and discuss parenting and more on their Cubby Community Blog.

I love going into The Baby Cubby to see in person all the great items they have for baby and parents but we all know how nice online shopping is. Some more great things about The Baby Cubby is:
-They always price match, even Amazon!
-They only carry the best and safest gear so you can shop confidently
-They spend hours researching the best products so you don’t have to!
-Free Shipping everyday at BabyCubby.com over $49
Also, another thing I absolutely love is they have a Stroller, Diaper AND Car Seat Guide to help you with making the right decision on what to buy. How awesome is that!? The Baby Cubby is open Monday-Saturday 10am-6:30pm and is located at 71 South 1380 West Suite #2 Lindon, UT 84042 or 24/7 at BabyCubby.com.

What do you think of this list? Would you add anything else?

Muslins cloths are a must for me. My baby is 1 next month and they have so many uses as make shift bibs, wipes cover or swaddled blanket on hot days. My wee boy also uses them as a comforter and won’t sleep without cuddling into one.

I hadn’t planned on using pacifiers so I hadn’t purchased any. My son ended up being a preemie and the hospital actually recommended a pacifier. He had trouble with the sucking reflex so we had to use one. So now I think even if you don’t plan to use one, it’s great to have just in case!

Great list! I just found out I’m pregnant with my 5th, and we got rid of ALL our baby stuff already.

It’s always amazing how much stuff these little humans need. My youngest is 18 so it’s been a while and he was my 3rd boy also, but I remember doing all the shopping for this stuff. It had been 9 years since the last one so I was pretty much starting from scratch. This service would have been helpful.
