Becky’s Bites of Life- September

October 2, 2014 by becky 8 Comments

Hello OctoberBackground Image Via

It’s October! And I am so glad. September was a rough month for me. Levi had a hard time adjusting to kindergarten (which is going great now) and I had a cold that made me miserable because colds and pregnancy are a bad combination!  But everything is pretty great now and I can’t tell you how much I love October! It’s my favorite month of the year.

I love the fall! The changing leaves, rain and pumpkin and apple smells make me so happy. (I am loving Wood Wick Candles!) Plus it’s my birthday this month! (The 16th) Can you believe I’ll be turning 30? I can’t!

The Most Popular Recipe in September was…

Becky’s Bites of Life:

Love to be in the KitchenMy boys love when I bake, especially if it involves letting them lick the beaters! (This is when I made the Snickerdoodle Cupcakes) I am baking WAY less lately because I hardly eat sugar anymore, believe it or not. I am trying to be healthier, especially for my pregnancy plus it makes me feel junky if I have too much!

Love to be in the Kitchen

The boys love our walks to school and back each day. The first couple weeks they were way into finding the “Ninja Turtle Places.” They are too cute!

Love to be in the KitchenMy awesome neighbor gave me this little bike for Asher. This picture melts my heart!

Levi was having a hard time adjusting to kindergarten. It was making him tired and whiny and it was miserable. I came up with this reward chart. He LOVES cheeseburgers and it’s totally worked! And so far this week he has gotten a sticker every time. He gets a sticker for being happy in the morning, getting dressed quickly, eating breakfast and walking to school without complaining. As well as doing his homework after school (he can eat lunch first if he wants but he usually chooses to do homework first.) And the last sticker of the day is for eating a good dinner. In the last couple of weeks I have been amazed at his progress. WAY less complaining and I have my happy sweet boy back. I can’t tell you how happy this makes me!!

Meet the MormonsWe went to an early screening of a new movie, Meet The Mormons. It was wonderful and so inspiring!  I am a “Mormon” (member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) and am so grateful for the happiness it brings to my life! The movie will  be in theaters on October 10th around the nation. And it’s not just for Mormons! It’s a movie about 6 different people and how they overcome challenges and live their faith. It’s very inspiring! My favorite part is a song in it by David Archuletta (he’s my favorite!) called Glorious. It is one of the most beautiful and uplifting songs. I am loving it! You can listen to it here.

I hope you all have a wonderful October! What things are you looking most forward to this month?

Stay tuned for more fun and delicious recipes! I have some awesome fall recipes coming your way!

Thanks! I love this time of year. 🙂 October-December is my favorite. (Except for how cold it gets.)

My parents are coming to visit this week. I can’t wait! We’re also going to see Meet the Mormons since it will be screening here in South Dakota (a miracle!). I’m glad that your son is adjusting to kindergarten. My daughter’s in 1st grade, but this is her first year of all-day school, and she’s definitely whiny afterward. I finally understand what “the witching hour” is all about! Haha
