We recently went on a fun camping trip with our boys to Dinosaurland. We all had such a good time. My boys were in dinosaur heaven! I’ll be doing a little post soon on it to help you with tips going with little kids.
We planned easy and simple dinners and snacks for our trip and one treat we knew we couldn’t leave out are these Campfire Scones. While technically breadsticks, my in-laws always call it that so that’s what I call it!
I love how easy it is to make! All you do is buy the breadsticks in a can. (We actually used biscuits because we couldn’t find breadsticks. Be sure to store it in a container so it doesn’t burst open in your cooler. (Not like I would know that…)
You wrap the dough around a straight roasting stick. (A bamboo stick or even a stick would work.) Then you toast it over the coals from your fire until it’s ready! Then comes the best part..
Once it is cooked through it will slide right off the stick. Then you pour honey or honey butter down the center and you have a very delicious and tasty camping treat! It’s such a fun one to make camping.
I just made my own honey butter and put it in a squeeze bottle before we left. (1 stick butter, softened, 1/4 cup honey, pinch of cinnamon, if desired, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, if you want it to be thicker.)
I remember the first camping trip I had with my in-laws a couple months after we were married and we made these. I thought it was so cool!
One Year Ago: Marinated Grilled Pork Chops
Two Years Ago: Dark Chocolate Granola Bars
Three Years Ago: Strawberry-Blueberry-Orange Smoothie If using biscuits roll a couple biscuits into a rope.
