Wedding Reception Cookie Bar

June 18, 2014 by becky 14 Comments

Tips for hosting your own Milk & Cookie Bar. This would be perfect for wedding receptions, baby or bridal showers, parties and more!

Wedding Reception Cookie BarMy sister-in-law was married a few weeks ago and had a wedding reception cookie bar. It was a perfect night filled with plenty of cookies, milk and wedding fun! After months of planning it was so fun to see the final look of the cookie bar. I love the white arbors my father-in-law made for the background. The decorations of tulle and pictures were done by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. My husband made the cookie sign (although it was totally my idea!)

The cookies served were Chocolate Chip Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Peanut Butter Kiss, Red Velvet Homemade Oreos, Sugar Cookies and a few more varieties.

The table was never empty of cookies all night long. There was plenty for everyone!  I am not exactly sure but I would estimate each guest ate 2-3 cookies. I found a fun How Many Cookies per Person Calculator just now if you need to figure out how many you would need.

Wedding Reception Cookie BarI was in charge of the chocolate chip cookies and made 12 dozen! I practiced for months perfecting the best chocolate chip cookie recipe and I did it! They turned out perfect! You can find that recipe here. I also made inside-out-cookies, here is that recipe.

Wedding Reception Cookie Bar (Cookie Dough)

Here’s all the dough before I baked it! It was a lot of work but it really helped that my mom watched my kids so I could work quickly. I highly recommend making the dough a day or two ahead and keeping it chilled in the fridge. Or you could even make it up to a few weeks ahead and keep the dough in the freezer then just bake up the dough the day before you need it or even that morning depending on your schedule. (Here are some tips on freezing cookie dough.)

Wedding Reception Cookie BarFor drinks we served lemon water, regular milk, strawberry milk and chocolate milk. I think regular milk was the most popular. I loved the chocolate milk the most! To make the strawberry milk they used the Nesquik Strawberry Powder.

Here is a close-up of the sign my husband made. I think it turned out perfect! (Update my sister and brother-in-law now keep this sign in their kitchen!)

It was a wonderful night! I am so happy for my sister-in-law and my new brother-in-law!

This is one of the cutest ideas for a wedding I have seen in a long time. Love the extra attention you paid to labeling each one. That’s the extra details most people forget to include.

So cute! I’m sure the guests absolutely loved it! And I love that you had multiple milk choices too! I popped over from the Weekend re-Treat party– thanks for sharing!

How did you keep the milk cold?

Keep the milk in the fridge until ready to serve, then people drink it fast enough it’s fine. Just keep refilling it with the cold milk from the fridge.
